Horse Guided Activities for Leadership Development - A handbook of horse activities for intelligent LEADERS
By Ann Kerr Romberg
This book is designed for a fully trained equine-guided coach and offers individual (vs. group) leadership skill building activities for each of four skill areas (Relationship and Trust, Clear Intention and Vision, Hold Accountability and Boundaries, and Communication) that an intelligent leader must have to be successful. These activities offer the equine-guided leadership coach solutions to the most prevalent challenges that people face in their leadership. Twenty horse-guided leadership coaching activities centered around developing Emotional and Social Intelligence in leaders.
Becoming aware of and understanding our own non-verbal communication and of other’s non-verbal communication is a key element of this book. This awareness and the ability to shift our energy are the hallmarks of emotional and social intelligence. Working with horses requires clients to become more aware of this other 90% of communication; that which is non-verbal. Our thoughts, emotions, body sensation and behaviors are energy frequencies that horses are highly sensitive to. The harmony (or dis-harmony) of those frequencies provides the horse with information to which they respond. Their response in turn gives the client feedback about their own energy (thoughts, emotions, body sensations and behaviors), when they are harmonious, when they are dis-harmonious. This increased self-awareness and self-acceptance allows the client to find new perspectives and approaches. Learning to watch another’s response to our energy increases awareness of others and allows the client to shift their energy to create the kind of interaction needed in the situation.
